If You're A Poet and You Know It...Or Not

Either way, you should come and join your host, poet Rachel Beth Meyer, at Feed Your Head Books for a Bouts Rimes (pronounced boo-re-MAY) Brunch! Meaning "end rhymes," this particular word game involves creating poems built around a preset list of rhyming words. Although invented by French poet Dulot in the seventeenth century, this Bout Rimes event is inspired by Alexander Dumas (author of The Three Musketeers) who compiled a book of Bout Rimes written by French poets in 1864. He ended up with 350 poems! Let's see what we can come up with! A Bouts Rimes reading will follow.

Come join your fellow poets for brunch. We will be supplying the food and the end rhymes; all you have to bring is your creativity. Please join us on Saturday, September 23 from 11 am - 1 pm at Feed Your Head Books, 272 Essex Street, Salem, MA. Free and open to all. For more information, please contact randie@feedyourheadbooks.com or call 978-744-4009.

Last Night...

was a total success. Congratulations, Heidi! And the best part is that her work will be up for the rest of the month for those of you who missed it last night . . .

And now, good readers, I need to pick your brains. We have a lot of swap events in the works for the fall, including an art supply swap and a clothing swap. The idea is that we'll set up several long tables and people can just leave whatever they no longer want on the table and help themselves to whatever they want from other people's contributions. And now, the reader participation part, what other swaps would you like to see?? Use your imagination. It could be anything from a poster swap to a vegan goodie swap to a comic book swap.
