"Intimations": Opening Reception with the Artist--September 9, 7 - 9 pm

As part of our monthly art series, Feed Your Head Books invites you to join us for the opening of Heidi Kepnes's exhibit Intimations on Saturday, September 9 from 7 - 9 pm. Drawing on ideas from Hermetic philosophy and using techniques that resemble those of alchemy, Heidi’s work is a quest for sacred awareness. The spaces between living entities, the connections that exist beyond the physical realm, are the moments that she captures to create a visual map of one’s memory. She captures an interruption of a synapse and an intrusive look at a moment, this moment being a portion of an unidentified life.

The materials that are used within the works are symbolic of the archetypal elements earth, air, water, and fire. Found objects are used to allude to the passage of time and to collective and personal memory. String is symbolic of the invisible threads that connect all things. With each step within the process there is a sense of discovery, a whimsical calling, and perhaps an intuitive whisper.

Heidi Kepnes currently resides in Salem. She graduated from Massachusetts College of Art with a concentration in painting.

Heidi Kepnes's mixed media works will be on display at Feed Your Head Books from September 9 - 30. Please join us for the opening reception with the artist on Saturday, September 9 from 7 - 9 pm at Feed Your Head Books, 272 Essex Street, Salem, MA (accessible by MBTA via the commuter rail to Salem). Admission is free and refreshments will be served.
